Where the rocks dive into the sea of one of the most beautiful villages of the 5 Terre: "Monterosso Al Mare".
The smell that surrounds our land is the seaweed and the salt we find on the skin.
Our grandmother's desire to open a bar in Monterosso Al Mare was born in the 1950s. Getting out of the nearby mountains to embark on a new life in the country was for the time an anecdote difficult to believe, but so it was!
In addition to her beautiful and colorful tales, Grandma sent us her strength, her courage and her great entrepreneurship.
From the mullets selling the milk, to the exchange of salt of Monterosso with the rice of Vercelli; This and more has been addressed by a young woman who had already taught us so much.
Its was the first bar in Monterosso with jukebox, TV and billiard room. While in the '60s he helped the family, he even managed to build his hotel.
Then we arrived, who, armed with a great passion for the restaurant, decided to continue with this invaluable family legacy.
After years of collaboration with our father, a tough and precise man who taught us the basics of cooking, our mother, a woman capable of managing a hotel and controlling everyone without ever stopping, and our grandparents Camilla and Eugene who supplied the Local cuisine with the best products of their small garden; Our dream of a restaurant full of hospitality and authentic flavors of the territory was being realized. That was how we decided to open our restaurant, the Anchor of Tortuga.
Eight years have passed since that day, and thanks to all those people who, besides being our family, taught us how to improve and manage a restaurant, we are here to thank them one by one!
Mom, Dad, Grandma Camilla and grandfather Eugenio, Mario and Mary of the Lombardy restaurant in Pretoria, our wonderful staff and all our kind guests ...
... to all of you THANK YOU.
